Social Sailing

Relaxed sessions on the bay - Friday evenings and Women on Water

  • 2 hours
  • Royal Findhorn Yacht Club

Sociable, low-pressure time on the water in Findhorn Bay, with boats provided and instructors on hand. We run two kinds of session:

  • Friday evenings - weekly, 18:30 to 20:30, for sailors who want time afloat with support available. A range of single-handed and double-handed dinghies, with numbers capped at 12 so everyone has access to a boat and to coaching. You need to be able to sail already - we are sorry, but we cannot support complete beginners in these sessions
  • Women on Water - one Saturday a month, 10:00 to 13:00, with a maximum of six participants so the coaching is personal and you progress at your own pace. Open to women aged 16 and over, and prior sailing experience is welcome but not required. These days are designed to build skills, foster friendships and create memorable experiences on the water

Each scheduled session below shows which one it is, along with the date and time.

Our P5-7 pupils benefited from 6 weeks of weekly sailing during the summer term. Despite poor weather for the first few sessions, the team made the experience enjoyable and engaging for the pupils. All our pupils thoroughly enjoyed their Tuesdays in Findhorn, learned new knowledge and skills, built their resilience and learned how to work together to sail! On the final sailing day we were blessed with beautiful sunshine and just enough wind to show off our newly acquired skills.

Had a great sail after hiring two boats for the family. Really friendly staff, good kit, and a beautiful location for a trip on the water.

2x kids booked on an RYA stage 2 course all week. They had a fantastic time despite some testing (very windy) weather conditions. I wouldn’t trust anyone else except Jane to enthuse the joy of sailing into my offspring. Will 100% be back — already planning how we can escape the hustle & bustle of normal life again before the end of the summer! The water taxi was a huge hit with our younger and older members who weren’t up for the sailing. It even came with some fantastic local tour guiding for good measure.

All in all, a great week was had by all in the most incredible surroundings with a brilliant facility, well maintained quality kit and some excellent tuition.

Completed our level 1 as a group of four adults. The staff and facilities were great and they really tailored the course to meet our needs. Would definitely recommend.

Owen McDonald

Needed to cross the bay for a run between Elgin and Nairn. They agreed to take me across even though they are closed in Winter. Really helpful and great communication. Thanks guys.
