Saltwater Scholars (Home Ed Sessions)
Sessions for home educated children, blending sailing with the Curriculum for Excellence

Led by qualified instructors, Saltwater Scholars sessions focus on sailing skills, water safety and developing independence on the water, with the opportunity to work towards formal sailing qualifications over time.
Rooted in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, the programme supports Health and Wellbeing through active outdoor learning; Literacy and Numeracy through navigation, communication and problem-solving; Sciences and Social Studies through real-world exploration of weather, wind and marine environments; and Skills for Learning, Life and Work including teamwork, leadership and resilience. Each session is a stand-alone adventure - book as many or as few as you like.
What's included
- Qualified instructors
- Wetsuit if you do not have your own
- All sailing and safety equipment
- Hot chocolate or hot squash
What to bring
- Swimwear
- Warm layers (fleece, thermal top)
- Change of clothes and towel
- Closed-toe shoes or old trainers that can get wet (no flip-flops or open sandals)
- Wetsuit if you have one
- Sunscreen and hat (weather dependent)
- Packed snacks and drinks
- Any medication needed - please let us know in advance
