Delivered by experienced RYA Coach Assessors, this course equips candidates with the skills and knowledge required to teach dinghy sailing in a safe, effective and engaging manner. Successful candidates gain an internationally recognised RYA qualification, enabling them to instruct at RYA centres worldwide.
This is a demanding course that requires a high level of sailing ability, stamina and commitment. You should arrive well-prepared, physically fit and ready to spend long days both afloat and ashore. Our goal is to support you in achieving your instructor qualification, but attendance does not guarantee a pass - honest, professional feedback is provided throughout, so you leave with clear direction for your future development.

What to bring
- Suitable dinghy sailing kit (wetsuit or drysuit, buoyancy aid, appropriate footwear, gloves, warm layers, hat and sunscreen)
- A packed lunch and sufficient snacks - there are no catering facilities on site

- Notebook and pen
- RYA Instructor Logbook (if available)
Additional details
- Duration: 5 days, 09:15 to 18:30 each day
- Location: Findhorn Watersports Centre
- Minimum age: 16 years
- Requires: RYA Pre-Entry Sailing Assessment completion
- Requires: valid First Aid certificate (minimum 6 hours, recognised by the RYA)
- Requires: RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding certificate
- Requires: RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
