Led by an RYA Coach Assessor, the course focuses on advanced coaching techniques, high-performance boat handling, and the skills needed to deliver dynamic and effective tuition. You’ll refine your own sailing skills while learning how to support and inspire students aiming for higher-level sailing.

Course Duration:
2 days, from 0900hrs to 1700hrs each day.

Please arrive promptly and be ready to start by 0915hrs each day. Sessions will run full days with time both on the water and ashore, so be prepared for a physically and mentally engaging experience.

Course Content Includes:

• Coaching techniques for advanced-level sailors

• Running sessions for Performance Sailing  module

• Advanced boat handling and spinnaker work (as helm and crew)

• Tactics, tuning, and race-style exercises

• Session planning and structured feedback

• Risk assessment and safety for higher-level sessions

You will be assessed on your sailing ability and your ability to deliver safe, engaging sessions tailored to the advanced syllabus.

Pre-requisites:

• Valid RYA Dinghy Instructor certificate

• Experience equivalent to RYA Seamanship Skills and Sailing with Spinnakers

• Recent and relevant sailing experience

• Valid First Aid and RYA Safe & Fun certificates

What to Bring:

• Your valid RYA Dinghy Instructor certificate

• Notebook and pen

• Warm layers and a change of clothes

• Full set of personal sailing kit (wetsuit/drysuit, waterproofs, buoyancy aid, gloves, hat, etc.)

• Lunch, snacks, and a water bottle
