Race Training Programme (6 weeks)

Three dinghies sailing on coastal waters

From Coaching to Club Racing

Learning to race isn’t just about understanding the rules—it’s about building experience.

By spreading the coaching over six weeks you’ll have time to:

  • Build confidence week by week
  • Develop stronger boat handling skills
  • Learn from real racing situations
  • Receive ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Progress alongside the same group of sailors

By the end of the programme you’ll have the knowledge, confidence and experience to take part in club racing and continue developing your racing skills.

Throughout the six weeks, instructors will support participants in developing not only racing skills but also the confidence to join Royal Findhorn Yacht Club racing where appropriate. Racing alongside more experienced sailors is one of the best ways to continue learning, and we’ll help make that first step into club racing as welcoming and enjoyable as possible. Club racing opportunities will depend on weather, participant ability and the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club racing programme.

Course Commitment

To get the most from the programme, participants are asked to commit to all six Saturdays. Each week’s coaching builds on the previous session, allowing everyone to progress together throughout the course.
