At Findhorn Watersports, we offer 120-minute Dinghy Sailing Taster Sessions designed to introduce adults and children (ages 8+) to the excitement of sailing in a safe, supportive environment.

These sessions are ideal for complete beginners or anyone curious about taking their first steps afloat. You’ll experience the basics of handling a dinghy under sail, develop a feel for steering and balance, and spend time exploring the sheltered waters of Findhorn Bay — one of Scotland’s most beautiful and accessible sailing locations.

This essential one-day assessment evaluates your sailing skills and readiness to undertake the full RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification.

Course Overview
The RYA Dinghy Instructor course is a rewarding and intensive training programme designed for competent sailors who are ready to take the next step into instructing.

Delivered by experienced RYA Coach Assessors, this course equips candidates with the skills and knowledge required to teach dinghy sailing in a safe, effective, and engaging manner.

Over five days, you will develop your instructional techniques, leadership skills, and confidence on the water.

Successful candidates will gain an internationally recognised RYA qualification, enabling them to instruct at RYA centres worldwide.

These are sessions for all ages, and are a chance to get out on the water under the guidance of an instructor for sailing.

These sessions will run from 9th May weekly, with the last Friday social session on 29th August.

These sessions are for skills development and for those who already hold sailing experience to the Royal Yachting Association Level 2 dinghy certificate, RYA Stage 3 certificate or the actual certificates themselves.

RYA Multihull Instructor Endorsement.

The RYA Multihull Instructor Endorsement is a two-day course designed for qualified RYA Dinghy Instructors and RYA Senior Instructors who wish to extend their instructional capabilities to include multihull sailing.

This course is a practical and intensive endorsement that focuses on the specific demands of teaching in multihull craft. Participants will refine their own handling skills, develop teaching techniques tailored to multihull dynamics, and demonstrate their ability to deliver safe, engaging, and effective instruction in a multihull environment.
